The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Overview

Initially created late 2018, I was approached to create a full brand package for a local mortgage agency's new company – A Simpler Mortgage – from logo design to building their first website.

Designing the brand

The client wanted a simple, clear concept for the logo, preferably a scalable typeface with a pop of colour. We opted for a lowercase bold version of Montserrat for the logo with an italicized tagline that can be removed depending on usage.

A Simpler Mortgages' brand voice centred on being professional yet friendly and inviting, where clients feel less like they're speaking to a bank or mortgage lender and more like they're having a financial conversation with someone they trust and understand.

2018 vs 2022: updating the design

When updating the site's designs my primary focus was to fix spacing errors, bring in greater cohesion with colour and font styles, and lengthen the information provided on the site with new sections.

The site's original iteration showed a lack of balance between text/image, leaving the site feeling text heavy to users. In retrospect, it would have been best to work to create more concise web-friendly copy. In the update, I limited the length of the copy and divided it into multiple sections, with callouts that had previously been located on other pages of the original.
